Where are the Russian protest groups?
Many Russian protest groups have become visible on Telegram since February 2022. Because public relations work is extremely dangerous for Russian activists on other social channels, the groups resort to Telegram. Here, anonymity is guaranteed in most cases.
Do all Russian people know the protest groups?
No, not at all. Unfortunately, many Russian people do not hear about the creative protest actions and the groups that courageously oppose the Kremlin's policies. So signs of protest (Green Ribbon) cannot always be attributed. At the same time, the Kremlin is putting a lot of effort into increasing the number of trolls in the major social media and propaganda channels.
The easiest way to help
The easiest, most anonymous and quickest way to support the Russian protest movement is to download the Telegram app on your phone, laptop or computer and subscribe to one or more of the protest groups' Telegram channels. This way, the number of subscribers increases and the channels simply get more attention. The higher the number of subscribers, the more we outsmart the propaganda with all the fake accounts. The more attention the courageous activists get, the more they can achieve.
Where can I find the groups?
Here you can find a selection of Telegram channels of the most important protest groups in Russia: protest channels on Telegram
If you subscribe to the closed groups, you do so anonymously and without any risk. If you want to subscribe to the open groups, decide whether you want to change your Telegram settings.
(See Telegram settings info page)
If you don't have Telegram on your phone anymore or don't have it yet, download it here. If you have doubts in case of Telegram please read the info site. (Why telegram?)
Why are there so many groups?
The protest groups are organised in a decentralised way. This has an important reason: it remains difficult for all those who do not belong to the groups to keep track. The groups are well networked with each other and adhere to the highest security standards. Please do not try to make direct contact with a member of one of the groups. The activists are extremely cautious when they are contacted, and for good reason. The not-so-nice FSB is often behind offers of help...
Is there a website for all the protest groups?
Yes, if you want to support the protest groups and their activities and get more information, you can do so through this site: russian-resistance.org
